その名も”Japanglish”!!
毎週金曜日に、皆で親睦を深めるためにいろいろなことをする予定です。

To be more closer TAU and ACCD, we went to drink and eat.
The main planers were Maho and Steave.We had so nice time!
This weekly plan is named “Japanglish”.
We are planning doing this “Japanglish” every Friday night.

10月2日、この日は５つにわかれたそれぞれのグループが、今まで行なってきた各自のグループリサーチについて発表をし、先生方から講評をしていただきました。
講師陣には 和田達也（TAU）、James Maraz （ACCD）、Heidrun Mumper-Drumm（ACCD）をメインに迎え、コメントをいただきました。
各グループの研究課題
A「カスタマイゼーションの将来的なあり方」
B「持続性とは」
C「仕事と働き方の将来」
D「家庭の定義と将来」
E「遊びの将来はどうなっていくのか」
長いディスカッションのあとに、各グループともに新しい方向性をあたえられ、概念を構築し、リサーチファイルを提出すると共に次のステップへの勢いをつけました。
次週から、「製品設計」視点からの知識とノウハウを提供してくれる Jeff Higashi 先生をアートセンターから講師として迎えて、プロジェクトは進んでいく予定です。
On October 2, the Pacific Rim group explored our individual topics in group critiques for an audience of Tama and Art Center faculty, staff,and students. The research topics included current and future trendsof customization and open source design; various emergent trends in sustainability and ecological issues; future of work trends, types of work, and the places we consider our workspaces; definitions of what
is home, including issues on generational shifts, cultural and social dynamics; and lastly, considering what is play, the future of play,and where and how we play.
Along with overseen by Art Center’s James Meraz, and Tama Art University’s Tatsuya Wada, the group presentation also was joined by Art Center’s visiting faculty member Heidrun Mumper-Drumm who lectured on issue of sustainability in design.
The groups were given new directions for research and design concepts and will begin presenting their findings to each other and visiting faculty Jeff Higashi who will provide his input from a “product design” viewpoint. Higashi taught a Samsung-sponsored trans- disciplinary studio with Meraz a few years ago and was a chief designer with Samsung.

この週は、アートセンターから新しく、Heidrun Mumper-Drumm先生が私たちのプロジェクトを訪れてくださいました。
「サステナビリティ～持続性～」についての鍵となる重要な内容の講義を受け、学生たちはデザインの方向性を築き上げるための基盤を提供していただくことができました。最終的にあらゆる意味で成功したプロダクトを制作するためにもっとも効果的な考え方や方法、プロセスを学びました。
This week, visiting ACCD instructor Heidrun Mumper-Drumm presented a guest lecture on the key topics of sustainability.
The lecture provided students with a foundation on which to build their design directions, defining key concepts necessary to understand sustainable design and how best to fluidly incorporate sustainable thinking into the design process to yield a successful end product.

三週目に入りました。今週のコアタイムでは平面、立体問わずのミックスメディアコラージュを「未来の仕事場の可能性」をテーマに作成し、各自の見解をプレゼンテーションし互いの理解の幅を共有しあいました。
The Ideal Workplace Scenario
This week, students focused their research on the concept of the ideal future workspace situation. Considering the current state of our own workspaces (i.e., characteristics we find vital to our workflow), as well as the future of technology, each student created a two-dimensional collage representing their personal vision of the ideal future workplace scenario.

今回は、前回出された個人課題の講評が行われました。
自分が考える「Home」とは何か？
それぞれの考える「Home」への答えを小さな箱に創作しプレゼンしていきました。
「Home」と一言で言っても、家のこと、家族のこと、思い出のこと…。
この言葉には様々な意味が含まれています。サスティナブルを考える上で大事な要素であるこのテーマを、まず自分の経験から捉えていくのがこの課題の意図です。おそらく制作する内に、私たちも「Home」に対する考えが明確になってきたと思います。
プレゼンが進むと、文化による価値観の違いが見えてきたり、それぞれ次への課題が見えてくるような内容の濃い時間でした。
また、相手に自分の考えを言葉で伝える難しさが実感できた講評でもありました。しかし私達は言葉以外に、ものをつくることでコミュニケーションができる環境にいます。このことをふまえて、お互いのコミュニケーションへの意識もより高まったことと思います。
The theme for the first assignment was “What Is Home?”
We looked at each student’s personal ideas, feelings, and thoughts about what home means to them.
Though each student worked with the same theme, everyone’s solutions differed in concept, materials, and method of expression.
In this way, we were able to learn from each other’s presentations.
Professor Daido and Ken Otake from the Product Design department assisted in translating the presentations between English and Japanese.
Mr. Frank L. Ellsworth, president of ACCD, stopped by the project room to offer advice and encouragement.
We shared a bit of background about our childhoods during our presentations to explain each of our ideas of home.
次の課題は”Future of Work”。
身近なことを改めて見直すことで、見えるものが様々とクリアになることを感じます。
ここで得たものが次に生かせられる様にしていきたいと思います。

初めてのコアタイム。
始めにこのプロジェクト講師を努めるJamesからテーマの説明をプレゼン形式で説明してもらいました。
今年のテーマは ‘Designing Sustainable Living’ に ‘Redefining the Human Experience’ が加わったモノです。
つまり持続性を考えたデザインを起こしていく上で、更に経験していくという事は何かと言う事を見直していくということです。
10月２日(金）にプレゼン発表をする課題のグループ編成が決まりました。
A~Eまでの５つのグループに分けられそれぞれ別のテーマに沿ってリサーチをし、ケーススタディなどを織り交ぜたデジタルプレゼンテーションを行うというものです。

「What is home?]というテーマにそって25cm×40cmほどのサイズの作品を作って提出という事でした。
