We visited the showroom and factory of Ozeki, a company in Gifu which specializes in paper lanterns.

Their business worked to create two very different styles of lantern - traditional decorated chochin lanterns, and the modern shapes of the AKARI lanterns, a series designed by Isamu Noguchi.

In their factory we were able to watch the careful skilled handwork that goes into each one of these lanterns.

 

イサムノグチのAKARIシリーズや、岐阜提灯などを製造販売している株式会社オゼキさんの工房とショールームを訪れました。

ショールームではイサムノグチがデザインした照明のAKARIシリーズを鑑賞しました。

工房ではペイントや組み立てなど、伝統的な提灯を製造する所を間近で見ることができ、とても勉強になりました。
