We stayed overnight at the House of Light, a structure designed by James Turrell.

The house was beautifully lit throughout, with the highlight being the roof of a tatami room which slide open to show the night sky.

This skylight was highlighted by a light show at sunrise and sunset, during which we lay together on the floor watching the sky slowly change. We were lucky, and the night we stayed over we could sit outside talking together and singing songs underneath a sky full of stars.

 

ジェームス・タレルが設計した光の館に宿泊しました。

館の中の照明の全てが細かなこだわりと綿密な計算を持って作られていて、館に入ってすぐにメンバー全員興味津々で隅々までじっくりと観察していました。また、日没と夜明けには可動式の天井を開けて、刻々と変わっていく空の色の美しさを体感しました。

夜には満点の星空を眺めながら晩ご飯をみんなで食べたり、外へ出て音楽を奏でたりして新潟の自然を楽しみました。

We visited Restructure, a piece created by Harumi Yukutake, an instructor in the glass department at Tama Art University.

This piece was created specially for the Echigo-Tsumari Art Field project. The thousands of mirrors attached to this small structure moved along with the wind, and their sparkling harmonized beautifully with the natural surroundings.

 

十日町市の「大地の芸術祭の里」にある作品「再構築」に訪れました。

この作品の作者は、多摩美術大学の卒業生で工芸学科の非常勤講師の行武治美さんです。

風や人の動きの振動でゆらゆら動く何千枚もの鏡のきらめきと周りの自然との調和がとても綺麗でした。
